New Mumble Server Replaces Ventrilo

Most of you have probably noticed by now that our Ventrilo server has gone the way of the Dodo. There are plenty of reasons for this, but in the end I bet you just want to know what our replacement is.
It’s Mumble! Mumble is a great open source project that provides a nice, customizable client along with really powerful server and user management tools.
If you want to get connected, here’s what you need to know:
- Go get the Mumble client and install it
- Fire up your newly installed Mumble client
- In the “Mumble Server Connect” window, click the “Add New” button at the bottom
- Call the server whatever you want in the “Label” field (we recommend calling it “Super Awesome LaG Server”
- Use the following address: 72.249.10.133
- Use the following port: 64738
- For “Username” you’ll want to use your most commonly used in-game nick, the one everyone will know you by. This is important because once you register with the server that is your final nick.
- Click “OK” and connect to the server
- Once you’re on the server you’ll need to get rights to do anything. To make that happen, do this:
- Right click on your name
- Click “Register” (you can follow the certificate process to be thorough)
- Let one of the admins know in our IRC channel that you’re ready to have access
- Chat!
If you have any questions there’s usually someone in our IRC channel that can help you out. Once you’re registered on the server you do NOT have to be online in order to be given access.
