Battlefield Heroes is a free third-person shooter produced by Dice and published by EA Games. It's a cartoony, side game to the Battlefield series with levels gained from experience, points to spend on abilities, and missions to complete. Think of a mix between Battlefield: 1942 and World of WarCraft. Disregard what others might tell you, it's no longer in beta but live. For some reason it's browser-based but not really.
You begin by opening an account and can create your first of four heroes. A warning, you can not delete any hero that you make. You're then faced with a choice of two factions, Royal Army and National Army. Royals are American/British inspired and Nationals are German inspired. So basically Allies and Axis powers. The National Army has the most amount of people playing/joining but the Royals have more people who have been playing longer. Generally, Nationals win most of the time but the Royals can have teams that you might be familiar with from the early days of battlegrounds in WoW.
The three classes are:
Gunner - a high hit point, bone-chewing man of slowness. The Gunner can wield machine guns, shotguns, and/or a rocket launcher. His abilities include a Hero Shield which absorb damage for a short time; Leg It which gives the Gunner and everyone around him a boost in speed; I Eats Grenades that gobbles up explosives to restore health; Explosive Keg to hurl a large, rolling explosive that can be shot to explode; Frenzy Fire which increases the accuracy of your machine gun for a short time.
Soldier - a medium hit point healer. Soldiers get the choice of pistols, shotguns, SMGs, and grenades. Abilties from the Soldier class are Combat Medicine which heals yourself and nearby allies instantly; Blasting Strike, a knock-back to vehicles and infantry around you; Grenade Spam which tosses out a few grenades at once; 6th Sense that reveals all enemies in a red outline (including behind obstacles) for a short amount of time; Burning Bullets which puts the ammo from your SMG on fire to burn enemies for a length of time.
