I was sitting in class today and me and a few others started talking about are favorite memories from video game history. I was wondering what all you would say was your most exciting or upsetting moments from gaming histroy. What moment in a game made you feel a way you never thought a game could make you feel. I know for me the biggest moment was in Final Fantasy 7 when Aeris one of the lead characters died. Any of you who have played FF7 know what I'm talking about. The way it was done literally brought a tear to my eye. The music, the cut scene as a whole combined was done better then most movies you see from hollywood.
I don't know how many of you have the G4 network but its a network devoted to gaming. They have a show called "Icons" were they explore certain characters or creaters of games that have changed history. One of the things that surprised me was that Mario the little plumber is the most recognized character in the world. Surpassing Jesus and the Pope. They also said the most recognized music in a game are the few chords that play in Final Fantasy after you win a battle.
I know the one phrase or sound i will always remember from a game is in Starcraft. The Phrase " Carrier Has Arrived" always sent chills down my back when i was at a LAN party and i heard that come from a friends PC cause i knew i was in for a load of hurt.
So come on share your stories or feeling that are gaming inspired. The things you will never forget about a game or how it made you feel

I'm going to reserve this slot for more because I think this could be one of the best ideas for a forum thread ever! The first thing that comes to mind is from EVE-Online. First you have to understand the nature of EVE. If you die, you lose whatever you had on you, many times that includes things you worked for months to acquire. The group I played with was a loosely affiliated group who happened to operate in the same area. We worked together only to make sure someone didn't come around and take things from any of us. Basically just a group of like-minded gamers with a common goal (sound familiar?). One day everything we had worked towards was threatened by a group of gamers we used to call "friends" within the context of EVE. They had decided that they wanted what we had... The memory is of us deciding that they couldn't have it. That day we banded together into a cohescive unit... We met the opposing faction and demanded that they retreat or die. It was roughly 50 of us and 75-100 of them (totaled up, there were only 50 in the group opposing us on location). Someone fired a shot... the rest is history. There were videos made to commemorate it and the alliance that I helped found started (and it still continues to this day over at http://www.eve-fix.com). This was the first time I had ever participated in 50v50 online combat and... it hooked me for nearly 3 years.

Well I gotta say Raven Shield were the good old days. I remember going out with my mom with full intentions of passing out in the car while she went shopping. Oddly i decided to go in with her. Went straight to the electronics as I usually do. Just that week I had gotten a new computer and internet connection IN MY ROOM!(big deal to a 14 year old kid) Well anyway, i was going through computer games thinking about buying one and came across raven shield. I looked it im like ahhh wth why not. 20 bucks not bad. So i get home, I install it, and boom im online. I go straight to a server which is the number one team on TWL at the time,(TWL = Team Warfare Ladder), and these guys rip me a new one. I'm like I HATE THIS GAME! Well further down the road I go into the LaG server and find Synergy and he wants to recruit me. He says "wanna join the clan?" At the time im like wtf is a clan? And i go sure...how do i get in? He says talk to a guy named Pizzaman. I just cant stop laughing cuz pizzaman is such a STUPID NAME! <3 Todd...well anyway, i get recruited i put on the tags im like hellz yes! The little LaG| next to my name was awesome!
A little later down the road when i become more experienced, we achieve first place on the TWL ladder. The final kill to win that match was incredible. I believe it was pizzaman and widkidone who made the last kills but im not entirely sure..but it was just as rewarding listening on vent. At that moment, i realized this clan is more than just a clan, its a damn family. Since then, i've chosen to stay here for the 2-4 years i've been here. RvS 4 Life!

Being a RPG boy myself I completely agree with Drangz about the Aeris thing. I wanted to ripe Sepheroth's head off and %^&* down his throat after that cinematic. Most of my other memorable moments come from other RPGs(Crono sacrificing himself ect.) and I wont bore you with all of them. But there one big moments that stands out more than normal from competitive gaming that I have participated in. The first really big lan event that I went was about when I was 16. The game of choice was UT. For the entire night I was always with in the top 3 players score wise, but then came the faithful map of my destiny. I owned so much face on this map. I double the second highest score of anyone there. I was getting mad props from people who played UT ALL the time. As a youngin' it was mighty cool the get that much respect from college aged guys.
The most memorable saying from a video game has to be "Nuclear launch detected" from C&C: Generals. I cannot count the times I looked over at my partner at a lan and said "Please tell me that was your nuke", and then the utter relieve when he said it was.
Also when ever something good happens to me I hum the victory song from FF 7 in my head. And I tend to hum the theme to Mario Brothers during exams.

Well like Doom i was brought into LaG by the Pizzaman. For those that dont know Pizza is my Brother in-law. I remeber the days sitting at his house watching him play UT. I told him when ever i get a computer that can run those types of games i will come and give him a run fro his money, Yea right lol. Well i finally got one that he built all the family helped pay for the parts but he did all the work. So week aftrer i go rigth out and get RvS, he helps me set up vent and i get on and meet a few of the clan members. Well after about a month of getting my butt handed to me i get told that i can now put the tag on. That would have to be my greates gaming moment i know its really not an ingame moment but, you got to realize when i moved to Maine i left everything behind i had no friends here or nothing. So to be excepted by a grp of ppl that you have never meet in person and feel that you are part of something that means more than just winning it is a big Deal. As chessy as it may sound <3 to all you guys. And ty for all the ggs we have had and the ones still to come
Well i just thought of a ingame moment i will never forget. Its when me and Doom were defending the 2v2 title on TWL we Completly owned those guys and for once i had a better record then Doom did <3 Justin

I think the fondest memory I have in my gaming history belongs to Warcraft 3. Through that game, I learned how to play and strategize, how to handle idiots and how to think ahead. I met hand fulls of people, hated some, but most went on my friends list. I played in Leagues for both custom games and regular ladder matches. I would go into different channel to hang out and wherever I went, I was known. By the end of my career, at my peak, I would enter a 4v4 game and people on my team would say stuff like, sweet, we have God_of_Socks and those who I was playing against would be like "Crap...Gosu rush" (Gosu means very good player in Korean or Thai or something) But that was the very first game I played and put everything into it. I would come home and get on and read up on strategies, think of games through my head. And through the 2 years I played that game, I met more people then I can remember, became friends with many across the globe, people from the UK, Puerto Rico, China, Japan, Germany. At one point I was in clans that were purely a UK division or an Asian team. But of all the people I played with, my heart went out to those of Australia...1st team I ever got on a 1st name basis with and 5 or 6 of those people I still talk to. <3 Australia. All in all, the good days of gaming come, and go. And ontop of that I thank Blizzard for putting out a game like World of Warcraft or Starcraft or Diablo or Warcraft where so many people of different backgrounds, nationalitys, country's, religions, ANYTHING...can come together and just play. LaG FTW!!!!

I have a couple fond memories of my past in gaming history: Redmoon-Online - This was my very first MMORPG that I played. Frosty and I used to play hours upon hours of this and have so much fun. I could go on forever about so many great things you could do in this game (before they changed alot and most of the playerbase left) but guild battles were definitely the highlight of it all. There would be scheduled guild battles in a vacant guild hall and you would have 100+ people on your screen at one time (it was a MUD style RPG) and it was just total chaos, especially from the classes that could AoE. It was really exciting when your guild came in the hall and killed every single member of their guild and defended it really well. Each guild got points for holding the hall for 'x' amount of time and whoever got a certain amount of points by the end of the battle won the hall. Winning a hall would grant you a special status, items and privileges. Neocron - This FPS-MMORPG was very addicting for Frosty and I as well. I would definitely take another shot at this game when I move to Germany since the playerbase is very high in that country. The graphics aren't quite as equal to newer MMORPGs but it's very unique. I remember switching to one of the "bad" factions in the game and joining this clan called New Dawn. These guys were the best of the best when it came to this server. They were well known and they kept the game really fun. I hate to admit it but they were kind of like Tyranny on Burning Blade in World of Warcraft. We would raid all of these towns and bases and claim them as ours and defend them against all odds. It required much more skill and attention than World of Warcraft does (at least for my class) because it was basically an FPS as well and required the same skills you develop in those types of games. I've played many other MMORPGs but these 2 have stuck out the most along with World of Warcraft and I will always appreciate the memories that I have of them. Thank you for making a post like this so I could share these with you guys and read yours as well! Btw, I won't even go into Counter-Strike, Team Fortress or Raven-Shield; too much to tell

Questron. Questron for the Commodore 64 is what first got me into RPG's. When you didn't have the "net" and there were no numbers you could call for hints. It was pretty complicated in that there was so much to do, you didn't really know how to beat the game! There were so many towns you could travel to, dungeons to explore, castles you could rob, churches to visit for folk stories, gambling spots to test your luck, and items you could buy if you had enough gold. After 2 years of playing here and there I finally made it to Mantor's Mountain. Anxiety was running high, and the game was genuinely suspenseful. I used the magic powder to destroy Mantor for good and I almost cheered (but didn't, since everyone else was asleep). The game was won, and even though the ending would surely be a letdown, I'd finally beat this on my own.
But something incredible happened. Instead of a quick "Congratulations, now beat it!" type of message, I was returned to the throne room. The guards marched by in formation, though I assume some of them were still a bit annoyed that I'd slaughtered so many of their coworkers. Then (and this was the incredible part) the king's musicians lifted their horns to their mouths and began to play a tribute. I honestly can't remember if there was music anyplace else, but this was the only piece of fluid animation in the game. Then the king went on and on about how wonderful I was, and eventually I was allowed to return to the countryside and keep playing, in case I missed anything.

my gaming memorys, Redmoon (hellhulk knows lol) and Neocron. Team Fortress Classic was my first real FPS experience, and Raven shield was my first long term clan membership. I actually wish we could go back to those days, getting on coms and going all out against our rival clan, totally ruling over them. Walking around corners in RavenShield and accidently.. killing Pizza with a head shot to the face with an auto shotty. lol.. i miss that stuff.

My fondest memories....hmm so many so many. It seems I've been gaming since I was like 4 with an atari. Burger Time!!!!!!!! YAH! Ok well my most favored gaming memories was playing Major Mud back in the BBS days. I'm sure somebody out there remembers playing on a BBS? Anybody? Plz don't make me feel like a grandpa gamer here. My first experience playing with people via a phone connection, i thought i was so badass with my awesome brand new 14400 modem I had the edge. So I decided to take my char and go try to kill all the other players, needless to say as with all 12 year old gamers I got my ass handed to me and proceeded to cry for days as everytime I was sited I was killed until my char was rerolled 8(. Sad but fun times. But, one of my more fonder gaming memories was the completion of my Shadowknight's epic in EQ, the culmination of my hard work and my guild's hard work finally being rewarded with what was at the time the best weapon I could have in the game....shortly to be made crapy by a fuggin expansion! NOOOO! 3 months of work down the craper only for me to get a better weapon accidently in a raid in a new expansion! Hehe oh well good times though . Wow, I'm ranting incoherently about nothing! yay for workplace boredom!

As with everyone, I have some very fond memories of video games from getting my ass stomped in UT99 by Red3ye to wondering how I got killed in COD4 for the 100th time... no, no themes there...
The story I will share is about Eve as well... yes, I play that game as well as it is one that will last across the span of years, but is still playable by someone new today...
One cold Saturday afternoon after a horrible week/month of work, I finally snapped and need to get out some aggressions. For the span of about 3 hours, I sat in our home system (low sec for those that know what this is) and pirated everthing that came through that gate. What took a mere few minutes to setup, lasts so long. After about 30 minutes of me blasting ship after ship after ship coming through that gate, did the rest of my corp catch wind of what I was doing and joined me. Now we aren't exactly a pirate corp, but we did turn to the darkside from then on. We forged a large union of trust among even the oldest players of my corp. The new folks were completely amazed and sat there with us. All in all, I didn't get that many kills or even decent lootz from them, but the bond that was formed is priceless.
Even after the fact, it took me months to fix my sec status and I still wear the wanted badge to this day. In otherwords, I'm a 5.0 pirate and loving every minute of it.
@ Deli... damn that tink tink tink sound... it haunts me to this day as well....

well I am relatively new to most games after the days of snes and sega. I remember beating double dragon 2 for the first time! I was the proudest little bastard around. I remember not knowing wtf I was doing in Zelda. I have to say that one of my best memories was in wow when I first started playing. I didn't understand a damn thing about how it worked or what I had to do. I ended up walking up to the Scarlet monastery when I was lvl 14 on my warrior. Yes my war was my first character. Anyway, I remember walking past all the hanging corpses on trees on my way up thinking wtf I am getting into...I wanted to turn back but I couldn't. Anyway, I make it to the summoning stone or at the time looking for group stone. Just in time to be pyroblasted by a scarlet something. The lvl 30--40s laughed at me and told me to turn back....good times good times!
Also on wow....getting Haloman to run into Scholo crypt fiends and retaliate 6 of them while we all sat back and laughed!
P.S I see Allie sneaking in!!!!!!!!........... Mirane: LFM SCHOLO!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember a time when I actually played my RTS (Real Time Strategy) games online. At the time it was Starcraft. I almost remember it was something like 3 vs 1 (I was on the 3 side) (to goose ratings) and so the game started... Depending on the game, and how I feel, I decided to start a game being a turtle (thank god in advance)... So it just so happens that when I usually play a RTS game with multi people, I tend to get attacked / jumped first, so I have become pretty good at being a turtle... (BTW, Im protoss if anyone knows the game).. So off the hop Im getting resourses, upgrading my weapons and shields, and building a massive amount of towers/turrets... So I have a pretty good amount, and then one of the people on my side decided to start parking all his quickly made armies near me... I then started to make my carrier armada, got it all upgraded.. then the guy I mention decided to start bringing all his men through all my turrets (why? take a good guess).. I asked him why, no response, I asked him to stop, no response, I then said F him, and changed him into an enmy.. My turrets smoked the living crap out of his men, and he started to laugh at me, said he was building a massive army to get me... Needless to say, I sent my carriers at him wholesale.. While this happens, of course the other guy decided to jump me.. I didnt really care, for its just a game and such, but I tell ya, I made damn sure that first guy went down badly.. and he did.. badly.. I laughed my ass off at him swearing at me, of course I didnt win, but oh, it sure was nice to destroy a back stabber... BTW, I could be wrong, but the object for them was to have me die, and give the other guy (opponent) the big win... Then there was that SM Graveyard fight, but nobody is around who was with me then... Ran alts through, and one of the alts (a rogue) tried to sneak in and kill the boss, but what was done was the whole bloody instance was agro'd, and I was in for a huge battle.. Alts died cept a warlock (think it was for him we were in there) and he stood back while I was having the fight of my life.. I didnt die.. but let me tell you.. thank god for my fire totems Lyle
