Does anyone play? Did anyone play?  Anyone interested in starting a game?  Anyone have the books?  Anyone able to DM it?  Have any modules? Smiley

3.5, never seen it get that far.  Last books I owned were the (dont know which version its referred to as being) Skills and Powers books. (first point system I do believe).

They came out with a totally revamped D&D system, called version 3, four or five years ago.  It's the system that introduced feats, prestige classes, etc.  They updated it and called it 3.5.  There may even be a newer system than that, but I haven't gamed in a long time.

Did you mean AD&D or D&D, 2 different styles of gaming (wasnt impressed with D&D as much as AD&D).

I think the Unearthed Arcana was one of my more favorite books to use Smiley

i played Ad&d For years. Me and my frinds still play from time to time. 3.5 is the most current version out moo. Its alot of fun if you have the right group of frinds to play with. Just like wow but with imagination oooOOOOOOooo....

I played some of the D20 stuff in high school, and a home brewed version of D&D back when I was a kid because our parents wouldn't let us get the D&D books because they were filled with the devil or something like that.  If you need some one else to play I would throw my hat into the ring.

I think the Unearthed Arcana was one of my more favorite books to use Smiley

The whole ad&d vs d&d got screwed up badly Tongue

They released "3rd Edition D&D" which doesn't make sense any way you look at it.  The 3rd was obviously counting forward from 2nd edition AD&D, however they dropped the "advanced" tag and started pretending that there was no such thing as regular D&D (instead, there's "basic" D&D and "D&DM" the miniatures skirmish game that is a lot like chainmail).

I did game and still do game (shouldn't be too surprising given my white and nerdy quiz score Tongue ), but I've never had a good play by e-mail game go for any period of time.

There's talk of 4th edition coming out too, I'd expect it by 2008 from everything I hear.  I'm hoping that they streamline some of the combat rules.  At present, most of my players fear doing things like trip attempts, disarm attempts, etc since combat suddenly starts taking 10 minutes a round Tongue

I also hate a lot of the "skill" system in 3.X.  It seemed like a good idea at the time, but they included skills for things like "diplomacy" and "gather information".  Nothing kills role playing more than having your players walk into a tavern and saying "I'm going to role a gather information check!" rather than try and talk through what they plan on doing.   When I DM, I tend to downplay those skills and require accompanying role playing to some extent.

We need a DM, and a version that others will be able to use / have.  I dont have any of the new stuff, and unless someone has them on disk / txt I wouldnt be able to use them.

I used to DM, and I had / have some modules, but I wish to play, but not DM it.

As for role playing...  Easy to do when you are sitting at the same table and what not, but doing it online tends to take up a lot of time.

Easiest way to play / role play, would be to use a chat system (ie. mIRC).

I was a fan of GURPS (Generic Universal Role Playing System), and when 2nd Edit AD&D (I think) changed to point / skills system (Skills and Powers) I was overjoyed.  I personally thought that was exactly what the game needed to make a character you wish to call your own.

I never "gamed" as you guys are calling it... But we can facilitate whatever you guys need to play.  We have an IRC channel (we could make a private one for you guys if you wanted) and/or I could make a forum specifically for you guys to use to do this.  E-mail lists are also an available option, if that would be better.

Just get organized, let me know what you need and I'll hook it up.
