Hey guys, I'm in search of a good collection of some classic rock sheet music and was wondering if anyone had a favorite book/collection they could recommend to me.  I'm looking for something in the intermediate difficulty range.  I've browsed some stores online, but it's hard to get a feel for exactly how the arrangements will sound, and usually I'm left wondering why they include some of the songs they put in there.  It's like most of the songs they choose for the 'best' collections are just fillers and you have to buy all of the editions to get a small sample of quality music.  Thanks in advance!

On another 'note' (ha ha ha), I'm in the market for a nice keyboard.  I was thinking about getting one of the models that kinda looks like a small piano, any suggestions?

There's elton john right?  And I think John lennon played the piano quite a bit on his songs.  Although, as I don't play the piano, I can't comment on difficulty/etc.

Yeah, Elton John, John Lennon, the Eagles, Billy Joel, I enjoy it all.  The difficulty depends on how the music is arranged.  There's no way I could play exactly what Elton John played during his songs, but people will take his music and 'water it down', so to speak, so it is easier to play.  I can name dozens of songs that I would like to play, but finding a collection of them in a single book is what I was having trouble with.  I thought someone might have a favorite book that they really enjoy and could recommend to me.  Grin

Do you play a lot of guitar Raka?

I have more recently used a guitar to suit my musical tastes, but I played piano for a good portion of my life.  I can't really recommend any good pop culture music because I mostly played classical, but I can offer some good opinions on keyboards.

Get a Yamaha... They're the only company who makes pianos AND keyboards so the weight of their keys is MUCH better and more natural than their next closest competition (Roland).  I opted for the Yamaha P60 which has since been discontinued in favor of (I think) the P80.  It's portable, has a full size keyboard with full size, weighted keys and has really, really good sound tone.  It also has built in speakers for practice runs, but you'll want an amp if you want to jam with anyone as the built in speakers aren't anywhere near loud enough for that sort of venture.

Hope that helps... I had no idea you were a pianist...

I had no idea you were a pianist...

I wouldn't call myself a pianist just yet.  I picked it up again a couple months ago and am getting back into the swing of things.  I really enjoy it though, I think everyone should pick up a musical instrument of some kind.  Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna be on the lookout for a Yamaha this summer.  I saw one this weekend that is a keyboard, but it has a stand and looks more like a real piano.  I may get something like that; I like the looks of them, and they don't take up too much space in my apartment.
