As many of you know, for some time I've maintained a Mage guide which Blizzard links to on the World of Warcraft site. Some of those who know this have encouraged me to update the guide to reflect the expansion, which I have done today. Because of the amount of interest generated by this guide I decided to make a discussion thread specifically for it here on the forums. So if you have questions or comments feel free to leave them here. The Guide: Jagor's Art of the MageMy ToDo List: - Currently only two Frost builds are listed. I have evaluated and intend to document other builds as well, but I want to do some more research. I will update these and post here once they are updated.
- I would like to make a more comprehensive guide to gear, including links to specific items and how to get them.
If you would like to see something added to the guide, let me know here and if there's enough support I'll add it to the ToDo list.

For sheep pulling:
-I prefer to have the tank do the pull so that mobs are heading for him instead of me initially. About a half second after he starts his bow/gun aim&shoot animation, i start casting polymorph
-If I do get initial agro for the pull, it can sometimes help to do a Frost Nova when the other mobs reach me, as long as it doesn't break other cc.
-Although polymorph should always be broken last, it sometimes isn't. In that case, I polymorph the other cc (sap, ice trap, etc) since polymorph is the most reliable.
For gear:
I'm not sure you put enough emphasis on +hit gear. For "bosses" that are lvl 73, +hit gear is very important. Some mages suggest having 3 pseudo sets of gear that emphasize different stats (some pieces shared between them): +Spell damage gear for trash, pvp, and pre-raid pve; +hit gear for lvl 73/skull bosses; +Stam gear for fights that require high health and pvp. The stam gear is mainly important for tanking in Gruul's Lair, and maybe some 25-mans after that.
Add to guide: -I'd like to see something about using a +spirit weapon during Evocate. I have heard that this can add hundreds of mana to the spell and you don't need a +spell damage weapon on at the time because it's channeled. I think Staff of Divine Infusion is best for this. A macro for equipping it and casting evocate at the same time (along with another macro for putting your other weapon back on) would be good too.
-Karazhan AOE trash section in the guide. We can make the healer's job easier if we use stuff like amplify magic, frost nova, ice shields, etc.

You don't see the links on the right side to all the different sections or the Next link at the bottom?

In its most complex and beautiful form, the Permapoly is an intricate dance between a Mage and his sheep

I've never really played a mage. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that my reply is pointless.

Your reply is valued, nonetheless.

Arcane Mages own. I should probably turn the maintenance of thisover to someone else at some point. It is still part of Blizzard's official guide stuff so lots of people still read it.

Yeap arcane mages own. Currently 40/0/21 is really nice with new spirit and haste changes in 2.4. I tried it w/o 2 set bonus but still pretty fun
