This is actually an old story (a few weeks) but with a newer twist.
Several weeks ago, park rangers at Lake Tawakoni State Park in Texas discovered a massive spider web covering more than 200 yards. To give you an idea of the scope, check out the picture:
http://texasento.net/Social_Spider.htm#PhotoThese massive spider webs are a curiosity because spiders are typically cannibalistic and more solitary. The park rangers invited scientist out to research it at the time, and we're just now starting to hear updates. Apparently this is even more interesting because this isn't a single event... they now believe that the spiders have rebuilt the web several times after hard rains and winds destroyed it. Moreover, there are many different types of spiders living in it, not just one breed.
