"We looked at how this would impact our ability to respond quickly to things happening at internet speed on the PC side of the equation and realized that this would not be in the best interests of our very loyal PC userbase because we would constantly be holding on to updates to wait until they passed cert on the console platform. Our PC fanbase is of ultimate importance to us. They are our bread and butter. We can't let them down or compromise their experience in any way to accommodate cross platform play."

I'm just hoping that this also means that it'll get released relatively _on time_.  As far as I know, they haven't outright said it, but I think part of the game's delays have been dealing with the console side of things.  Maybe PC gamers will pick it up in Nov while xbox/ps3 get it around feb?

Regardless, I'm glad they gave recognition to the PC community.  With the kinds of incredible professional caliber work that fans pump out for free to add to that game, I'm pleased that we got the nod.  Honestly, I think UT has always had bar none one of the best modding communities around (and is well supported by the Make Something Unreal contest).

Also, maybe they got the hint since one of the most requested mods on the forums is already "only allow PC users to join this server".

You will play Face... AND YOU WILL LIKE IT!

9/10 of the allure to Face was Todd in a drunken rage getting monster kills with the flag on his back.  Nothing will ever remove that wrinkle from my brain.

Yup Yup

Quote
Midway, which has adopted a tailored version of Epic's Unreal Engine 3 as the standard across all of its next generation games, insisted that most of these PS3 problems are now behind Midway.

"These technical issues are now completed at a core level in our engine, and now that we have the systems working, looking ahead to 2008, we expect the PS3 versions of our titles to ship day and date with our other versions," he said.

UT3 is still slated to release on PC in November this year, according to Zucker. No release date has yet been announced for the Xbox 360 version.

Don't post things that get me excited about UT3. I prefer my UT play to be done in lan parties, not over the internet. If you make this sound like too much good times I might be forced to buy it.
