Apparently this is a pretty old video --> http://youtube.com/watch?v=wS7CZIJVxFYI think some of the points are a stretch, but it is a pretty cool idea and even cooler to think that Tool had this in mind when they wrote the song. It's hard enough to write a song based solely on creative thought, but forming creative thought from a mathematical sequence and then shoehorning it into a musical expression that doesn't make people want to shoot themselves is really, really impressive. Enjoy!

As much as I love TooL, and this song... I don't buy the Fibonacci Sequence link. There are a lot of patterns in life, and if you look hard enough you can see them everywhere. I think the video is a stretch and that it was not in TooL's mind when they wrote the song. Coincidence.
Just because I don't think it was intentional doesn't take away from the "Cool Factor" though.

Although I completely agree with the fact a lot of people try to find something that wasn't intended or not even there in different mediias, I'm pretty sure this interview with Maynard confirms it. I stole it from this Wiki dedicated to the song. The Lateralus part is about a page up from the very bottom. http://www.cdicarlo.com/paper_04maynard.htm

I wish he would have quoted the part about the Fibonacci Sequence rather than just narrating it. The article certainly gives credence to the link being intentional, but I'm looking for Maynard to flat out say "Yes, we designed the song based on the sequence." Call me stubborn. =)
But that's just my opinion, don't let it affect what you think about any of it. Either way, it's cool shit... coincidence or not.
