I'm Sure alot of you have heard of a little game called Dungeons & Dragons. I know me and my friends spent countsless hours slaying trolls and fighting dragons on Friday and Saturday nights during are youth. Gary Gygax Passed away on March 4th. He was one of the co creators of that little game that has grown to be a world wide  phenomenon.

Without Gary Gygax, we wouldn't have role-playing games, period. Not just D&D, which has been played by more than 20 million people, but the bloated universe of questing elves and ravenous minotaurs that so many of us dwell in, everything from Zelda to World of Warcraft.

In 1974, Gygax and partner Dave Arneson took the fantasy realm best described by J.R.R. Tolkien, and unleashed it in a form that has proved immortal: a game. A game first played with graph paper, dice and, most of all, friends and imagination

I would just like to say thanks for all the fun i had as  kid and for opening my eyes to so many wondeful things....

Rest in Peace , The Original Dungeon Master..

I think he needs to roll under his int next time.

Rest in Peace Gary, many an hour I spent playing AD&D, loved almost every minute of it.  Met lots of nice people because of it.  Gave my imagination a direction to go when I didn't have one.  You will be missed Gary.

I never played D&D, but i've played many products (Pretty much every MMORPG is based on it in some way) that are offshoots from it, and enjoy those greatly.

Thanks for all the great times. You'll be missed.

For the most part he is correct. For a role playing game D@D isn't the best, not even close. The point is that he brought Fantasy games to the main stream.  He influenced Generations of people directly and indirectly.

DND was great. I remember having a great DM too. I've spent my share of role playing with mugs full of ale with friends, a grid paper, some custom made action figures and some dice. Good times. Didn't know the guy personally, but he did create a good thing for a lot of us out there. R.I.P

I saw the movies, and an episode of the cartoon.  Not impressed.  Role playing games even today have a long way to go. I never even knew who this guy was.  The only thing I know about d and d is tom hanks played in the first movie and some chick with big boobs played in the second
